Traveling Show - A Love & Hate Relationship

~ A Traveling Show ~

An Era's Ambiance
Jewelry

I have this Love & Hate relationship with art festivals and shows.

I get really excited around the month of May...I find that all of my Winter stock that has been stashed away comes ALIVE!  I start planning on how I am going to change my booth around to better display the new collections.  I am always trying to find better ways to showcase and accentuate my style.
But that comes with a price...

I always forget how much work goes into a show.  I think it really hits home when you are standing outside in blistering HOT weather and sweat is pouring down your back.  All the while you are trying to look professional and inviting!

But even while your swatting the bugs, your booth and merchandise will say it all...

I'm here because I have a SOUL PASSION and a GIFT that I would like to share with others.

The long hours of creating, pricing, tagging, boxing and traveling pays off...

Because when that customer smiles and feels beautiful after she tries her necklace on...

I find that genuine compliments will linger. I am still thinking of what the woman said who was quite taken back from Sunday's booth..."This makes me want to cry." I asked her in a concerned manner, "Oh no, it makes you want to cry?" She added, "....because everything is sooooo beautiful!"

Hand Weathered Backgrounds - Jewelry Display & Mixed Media

My Hand Weathered Backgrounds

I have given new life to my mixed media painting backgrounds from my studio!  I have found that they work wonderfully for my jewelry photo displays!  They were originally from a small series that I started awhile back and have been left on the easel.  The hand weathered backgrounds are on illustration board and are perfect for my mixed media collages and now vintage jewelry!

Perfect for Jewelry Photo Backgrounds!

I have found that the hand painted backgrounds give depth and vintage character to my designs!  The washes of acrylic add textures that compliment the rich detail of every jewel.
With the right lighting and your imagination...a beautiful work of art is born!

Now my mixed media painting backgrounds can be used for both passions!

Finding "the" Upcycled Jewelry Display!

~ Upcycled Jewelry Displays ~

 ~ Upcycled Antique Ashtrays! ~

Once I have completed a collection of “An Era’s Ambiance” Jewelry, I am on the lookout for interesting treasures that can be upcycled to display my vintage creations.

I usually head off to my local antique store or my favorite flea market with a few guidelines in mind:

What color of the display do I want to look for?  - Looking for a specific color helps narrow your search and helps you find your treasure faster.  In a large room filled with antiques from top to bottom, you have to be able to scan a space quickly for your hidden treasure.  I usually am looking for the color teal or turquoise.  A bright, vintage color that was often used on old farm house objects.

How should the jewelry hang on the display?  - This question is very important when searching for the right upcycled display.  If I am looking for a display that will accommodate earrings, the display should have the ability to hang small items from and still be noticeable.

What is my price range?  - The wonderful thing about upcycling is that it can be fairly cheap.  Your treasures can vary in value, but for the most part, they are objects that just need some tender love and flare!  If you are willing to put a small amount of time into cleaning or perhaps painting, another woman’s junk can become your extravagant jewelry display!

~ Upcycled Antique Tins! ~

The upcycled antique tins are perfect for my skeleton key necklaces.  I love that my display is functional and vintage!

~ Marketing Materials ~

My marketing materials are as equally important as my jewelry!  An upcycled cocoa tin creates an inviting display that gives height and vintage appeal!

At festivals and shows, upcycled displays highlight your handmade, repurposed goods!
